What is Music Therapy?

 

Music Therapy is an allied health profession where music therapists use music as a medium, and the relationship that develops through shared musical experiences, to assist or motivate a person towards specific, non-musical goals in various domains including: cognitive, physical, communication, social, mental and emotional areas.The therapy process does not require musical ability, but instead is a process of making, being affected by, and responding to music to address specific client goals.  Music therapists work in a variety of settings, including educational, medical, psychiatric, wellness, and gerontology facilities.
